The specific goals of the core are:
- To design and conduct studies of multifactorial geriatric health conditions.
- To collaborate with investigators on the design and analysis of Center projects and on research design and analytic methods for external grant preparation.
- To develop new and efficient methods for designing and analyzing studies of multifactorial geriatric health conditions.
- To introduce statistical methods from other fields to geriatric research.
- To train the next generation of geriatric statisticians, epidemiologists and junior clinical investigators in research methods appropriate for studies of multifactorial geriatric health conditions.
- To initiate and develop the new field of Gerontologic Biostatistics with linkages to other OAICs.
